Currently, the United States government officially recognizes three Cherokee tribes: the Cherokee Nation (Oklahoma), the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians (Oklahoma), the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (North Carolina). Notice that all of the tribes’ flags contain a seven-pointed star.
